Perhaps it might of been better off if Canada had turned the vehicle around and turned it into a heavily armored APC. A small one man turret with a .50cal and room for 4 to 5 men in back. (secondary) sources differ on what happenend next:

1. Policy dictated that HE was never needed in an AT gun and hence it was not put in production.

2. Policy dictated that a tank would use its gun as an AT weapon (hence carried only AP) and its MG for other thargets (including AT guns). Royal artillery AT units (guns) were given a limited amount of HE shells (10/gun i believe) for self defence purposes against infantry attack.

SO the technical capacity to fire HE was there, the shell was ready to be placed in production or even produced in small numbers but doctrine went for (almost) AP only and HE production if started was stopped quickly.Inhapihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09389333832375000604noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5030145265861917845.post-45172627503599134182019-03-02T18:17:04.329-05:002019-03-02T18:17:04.329-05:00The 2-pdr AP shot @ 2600ft/s can penetrate about 7...The 2-pdr AP shot @ 2600ft/s can penetrate about 76mm of vertical 270 BHN hardness armor at 100m. At 2800 ft/s 2-pdr AP shot can concievably penetrate 82mm of vertical 270 BHN armor at 100m. If against British Machine Quality test armor AP shot can penetrate 100mm at point blank. Though at these high velocities shot can sometimes shatter when striking armor over 2 x their caliber over 2600 ft/s.Mobiushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05256982406940327658noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5030145265861917845.post-75852634820792069012019-03-02T18:13:54.145-05:002019-03-02T18:13:54.145-05:00This comment has been removed by the author.Mobiushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05256982406940327658noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5030145265861917845.post-18695927214378943032019-03-02T17:35:50.587-05:002019-03-02T17:35:50.587-05:00British tests showed that 50 mm of face-hardened G...British tests showed that 50 mm of face-hardened German armour could be penetrated by the 2-pounder from a range of only 50 yards. I'm using the term colloquially, the actual point-blank range for a tank sized target would be much greater.

As for 90 mm of penetration, I highly doubt it.
