At least in my opinion, production of two medium tanks with similar size/weight and far different design, that's strange idea. Especially if we inlude that system "one tank with small calibe anti tank gun, other one with howitzer-like short barreled gun", can be implemented in case of usage one tank model in two variants. Of course, I know that both tanks were created in different companies, also, according my knowledge, early Panzer III drawings (makettes?) suggest that on early stage of works on Panzer III, Germans want use in this tank two-man turret.
