** Fuel carried in main tanks
God, the IS-7 was a beast! Why wasn't it mass produced?
ReplyDeleteToo heavy and too expensive. The world was changing, and there was no more room for heavy tanks in it.
DeleteFunny because the T-10 was 3 tonnes lighter but didn't apppear to be has powerful has the IS-7. Guess they should've held the project a little while until they changed their mind? Another thing that bothers me, how would 90mm and 105mm APDS and HEAT perform against those late heavies? And, I think Zaloga said that in Think Tank 2012, did the IS-3 really have a hefty price and lot of mechanical issues?
DeleteThe IS-7 was reaching 70 tons by the time production was due to start, the new limit for heavy tanks was 50 tons.
DeleteAlso I don't know about the price of the IS-3, but the mechanical reliability is the same as the of the IS-2, from everything I've seen.
Oh, uh, so you're not gonna answer me, OK. I'll just... sit here... alone... :(
