The conversion is very simple. All you have to do is wrap 0.6 mm diameter wire around a protrusion in the trigger mechanism rod. Unfortunately, the effectiveness of this weapon is not specified. However, given the results of the official trials, it could not have been very useful.

From what I've read it's pretty typical for period semiautomatics to be very easy to modify for full-automatic fire - pistols being probably the best known (such were the effective precursors of proper SMGs as assault weapons in the Great War trenches, and somewhat popular personal weapons among Prohibition era gangsters). Depending on the design specific "regulator" bits of the mechanism - I'm guessing the wire-wrapped projection here is an example of such - wearing out could produce the same effect spontaneously which could of course be rather dangerous...
