Not really surprising, seeing a hand granade can very much do the same. The difference is mainly in chance of a solid hit, though I guess over an engagement a decent mortar team can put more rounds close to target then a scared infantryman with a couple of handgranades...
ReplyDeleteIf that on the linked picture is indeed a M1938 or M1943 120mm Mortar (size very much looks that way) then the mortars chances should be much better even with the 35lb round vs a 1pund hand granade...
